Ratsa
Geshe Tenzin Dargye (Tamding Gurung) was born on April 7, 1965
in Jomsom Mustang, Nepal. As a child he was tutored at home
by his father until the age of nine, when he was sent to study
in India. Five years later - inspired by his grandparents and
his desire to help the impoverished - he decided to become a
monk.
In
April 1996, Khenpo achieved his Doctor of Philosophy from the
Bon Dialectic school. Over the next six years he worked as an
organizer for the Bon Children's Welfare Center and for the
Dispensary. He was then transferred to Dhorpatan in western
Nepal, where he helped renovate Bon Monastries and aided the
poor and elderly citizens in the community through donations.
To this day, Khenpo continues to work for the
Dispensary in Dhorpatan and is actively involved in eliminating
poverty in Nepal. He provides assistance to impoverished children
in the pursuit of education and recently established a Tibetan
medical center to provide health services in rural areas. He
also preaches about Bon around the world in an effort to share
the culture with the people of other nations.
